Sheepshead Bay, New York

I'm a freelance reporter published in local, national and international publications. I've written for New York Press, New York Sports Express, World Screen publications, Courier-Life, Bay Currents and was a contributing columnist to Dedomedio, of Lima, Peru.
In May 2008 I created Sheepshead Bites (www.SheepsheadBites.com), a successful hyperlocal news website serving Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. The site attracts 90,000 visits a month in a neighborhood of around 160,000 residents. We cover local politics, community meetings, real estate, crime, businesses, history, and whatever community quirkiness inspires us.
Sheepshead Bites has been referenced by NY Times, New Yorker, New York Magazine, Daily News, NY Observer, Black Book, Real Deal, Village Voice, Curbed, Gothamist and Brownstoner, among many others.
In 2011, CBS News editors named Sheepshead Bites the Most Valuable Blog for Local Affairs. In June 2010, Reynolds Journalism Institute included Sheepshead Bites on its national list of Most Promising Local News Sites. In August 2010, L Magazine honored me with the title "Best Local Blogger" in their "Best of Brooklyn (and Manhattan Too)" issue.
In addition to writing, I practice photography, web design and cooking. I travel when I can, and mope about it when I can't.
