The Atlas Moth

The Atlas Moth, a three-guitared, heavy-duty hydra out of Chicago, may have recorded their masterwork with 2011′s An Ache for the Distance. The record–a giant-sized amalgam of stoner metal, blues, deep sludge, and psychedelic rock–blasted through genre lines, reaching listeners (and critic’s year-end lists) across a wide spectrum. The band’s ultra-tight live show, with singer Stavros Giannnpoulos’ screaming fearfully about an apocalypse drawing ever-closer, is threatening and life-affirming in equal measure.
