Daughn Gibson

Teenage punk, former metal drummer, and one-time truck driver Daughn Gibson now makes startling ballads that pit his world-weary torch-song crooning against current sampling techniques, organically turning laptop loops into something deeply felt and emotionally raw. The narratives on his debut solo record, All Hell, are the stuff of classic country songs–small-scale, small-town tragedy. But despite a pervasive, dust-topped twang, (and sampling choices that veer towards weathered, out-of-time gospel records) the music’s warped loops and glitchy rhythms cast the old sounds in a striking, modern context.
